# DJI - Compass Calibration

## Compass Calibration

According to the DJI user manual:

{% hint style="info" %} DO NOT calibrate the compass in locations where magnetic interference may occur, such as close to magnetite deposits or large metallic structures such as parking structures, steel reinforced basements, bridges, cars, or scaffolding. Avoid calibrating near cell towers.\
\ Do NOT carry objects (such as cell phones) that contain ferromagnetic materials near the aircraft during calibration.
{% endhint %}

\
Choose an open area to carry out the following procedure:

1. Connect to the drone as shown in [DJI Equipment Setup](https://support.sentera.com/portal/en/kb/articles/dji-equipment-setup).
2. Launch DJI GO 4, or DJI Pilot.
3. Tap the System Status bar and select Calibrate, and follow the on-screen instructions.
4. Empty pockets of phone, keys, or other metal objects.
5. Hold the aircraft horizontally and rotate it 360- degrees. The Aircraft Status Indicator will turn solid green.
6. Hold the aircraft vertically, with it's nose pointing downward, and rotate it 360 degrees around a vertical axis.
7. If the aircraft status indicator blinks red, the calibration has failed. Change your location and try the calibration procedure again.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://support.senterasensors.com/home/dji-settings/dji-settings/dji-compass-calibration.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
