Trimble R980

The Trimble R980 is a capable 3rd party base station that enables RTK and PPK workflows. It is not a required component for the RTK-PPK module.

Configure I/O Settings

Once your are connected to the Base Station in the web interface, click the I/O Configuration Tab on the left hand side bar.

Click on the second Serial in the Type column. Verify that it is the Ext-Serial Port and not the Lemo Port.

Update I/O Configuration Settings to match the image below.

Configure Data Logging Settings

Click the Data Logging tab on the left hand side bar

Click on Default

Update Data logging Settings to match the image below.

Hardware Setup

Mount The R980

Mount the R980 base station to a survey pole or tripod.

Connect Ground Radio (RTK ONLY)

This step is only required when operating with RTK.

Connect the Sentera ground radio to the R980 using the Limo to USB cable.

First open the black rubber tab with the USB symbol on it

The Serial Port for USB communication can be identified by the yellow ring around it

Then insert the Lemo to USB Cable adapter, and connect a USB-a to USB-c cable.

Attach the USB-c cable to the Sentera Ground Radio

Place The Radio (RTK ONLY)

This step is only required when operating with RTK.

Place the Sentera ground radio such that the antenna is pointed towards the sky.

The Sentera ground radio has an integrated magnet and a 1/4"-20 thread mount that can be utilized for mounting as the end user sees fit.

Verify the Antenna is Mounted on the Drone (RTK ONLY)

This step is only required when operating with RTK.

Install the Antenna per the manufacturer instruction
